Working in Thailand 

Thailand Privilege Visa/Thailand Elite Visa does not automatically confer the right to work in Thailand or secure a Thai work permit. While visa holders may work remotely or serve as directors or shareholders of Thai-registered companies, employment with a Thai entity requires proper authorization.

Should you intend to work for a Thai employer or actively operate a business in Thailand, our team can assist in securing a work permit or transitioning to an appropriate Non-Immigrant Visa (such as Non-B).

As a general rule, a work permit cannot be obtained under the Thailand Privilege Visa. An exception may apply under the Flexible Plus Program, which permits eligible members to convert their visa to Non-Immigrant (B) status and apply for a work permit, subject to qualifying conditions and minimum investment requirements.

Limitations & Important Caveats

• No automatic path to PR/citizenship — Privilege visa offers a luxurious long-stay program in Thailand, but it is not a direct path to citizenship.
• No special property rights — membership does not override Thailand’s existing foreign property ownership rules. 
• Tax residency — long physical presence could trigger Thai tax residency rules (e.g., more than180 days in a tax year).

How long is each stay allowed?

The Thailand Privilege Visa/Thailand Elite Visa is multiple-entry. The overall validity depends on tier (5–20+ years). Each entry’s permitted stay and reporting requirements may vary.

Can I include my spouse/children?

Do I need to pay tax on my income?

If you stay more than 180 days cumulative in any calendar year in Thailand, then you are considered a Thai tax resident, regardless of your visa status. This means any money you remit, or bring into the country, is assessable for income tax.

Nevertheless, you may be exempt from this if your foreign income is taxed by your home country, and that country has a Double Tax Agreement with Thailand, which prevents income from being taxed twice.
